Last Tuesday, I saw a tweet from Dublin City Council which read:

I was all intrigued as I hadn’t seen this particular bridge open before and I’ve often wondered why it was necessary to have rotating functionality at all (besides facilitating the removal of the Jeanie Johnston, I suppose).
So, I decided to stroll down to the Samuel Beckett Bridge to see how it all happened and I took some photos which are whirling around in a slideshow below.
